Several popular IPTV apps are iPhone or iPad only, so check for an Apple TV version first. Of the players we looked up, IPTVX, UHF, Tivimax and IPTVflix run on Apple TV; GSE Smart IPTV Pro and iPlayTV AIO do not list Apple TV. All of them play your own M3U or Xtream playlist; none include channels.

How we checked
- Each row comes from the App Store lookup for that app on 14 Oct 2026. Apple TV support means Apple TV appears in the app’s supported devices.Source
- GSE SMART IPTV PRO lists no Apple TV device, and the tvOS app search did not return it.Source
- iPlayTV AIO’s listing reads “Designed for iPad” and lists no Apple TV device.Source
Chillio, often recommended in forums, did not appear in the US App Store on the day we checked. See Chillio on Apple TV.
What to check before you pick one
- Your playlist type. If your provider gives a Stalker portal (a MAC address login), you need an app that lists Stalker: of those above, Tivimax and iPlayTV AIO do. M3U and Xtream work in all of them.
- The guide (EPG). M3U playlists usually point to their guide in the header. A player has to read that, or let you add the guide address by hand.
- Pricing model. Free with in-app purchase, a one-off price, or a subscription. Check which features sit behind the paywall before you build your favourites list.
- Apple TV, not just iPad. “Designed for iPad” apps do not run on Apple TV.
How our player, IPTVflix, handles playlists
- Accepts an M3U playlist URL or an Xtream Codes login. Our app
- Reads the guide address from the M3U header (
url-tvg,x-tvg-urlortvg-url); for Xtream it takes the guide from the same login. Our app - Plays streams through libVLC, which handles MPEG-TS and MKV.Our app
- The same libVLC engine decodes four 1080p H.265 streams at once on a 2017 Apple TV 4K under tvOS 26.6, at 14 to 24% CPU. That was measured with LAN cameras in our camera app, not IPTV, so treat it as a headroom figure, not a channel-switch time.Tested
Questions people ask

No. App Store IPTV players are players only. You add a playlist (M3U link or Xtream Codes login) from your provider.
Is GSE Smart IPTV on Apple TV?
GSE SMART IPTV PRO in the US App Store does not list Apple TV among its supported devices, and a search for tvOS apps did not return it on 14 Oct 2026.
What is the difference between M3U and Xtream Codes?
